What is the difference in the “upgraded” version?
The top is made of 150D polyester with PU 2000MM coating, which is more durable and has higher waterproof performance. The other is made of 66D taffeta with PU 1200MM coating.

Yes. But, to prevent getting wet, you would have to be inside center covered area. The dome is smaller than the base. Forget it if the rain is "wind driven".
The rain I experienced was for about 45 min. and we all went inside the house when it came down hard.

This photo could not do this tent justice!!!! Size is huge! Overall, perfect "high ceiling" tent for summer, very breezy....like the design too. I do wish the manual could be simpler, but it was pretty straight forward to set up.
Easily set this up by myself. Set-up is similar to tents of the same style. Seems to be good contraction. Time will tell. Very roomy inside.
We've used this twice on camping trips and everyone seems to be happy with it. Our prior one was a few decades old and the joint connections were a little less than perfect...but that puppy was huge enough to fit a picnic table in it with plenty of room around. So that alone was a key goal to get as much square footage as possible. I was a little skeptical that 12x10 feet would be sufficient but it seems to do the trick for our core group of six...primarily to provide us with a bug net to keep out pests. It comes together in pretty standard fashion with poles over the roof joined to the sides and ground. Two very large doors on front with zippers. We're not doing much with crazy weather but are very happy with this in normal camping conditions! Seems like a reasonable price also.
Needed help assembling but once we got the hang of it we were fine. Haven’t folded it yet, hence the one star, great sun protection
It's easy to put together and keeps the bugs out well. However be warned that the stakes to hold it down are not sufficient for staking it down. In a strong wind they come right out of the ground. We replaced them with thick pronged plastic stakes and it stays down much better now. All in all we are pleased with it.
